Go Bananas for QuickStart! Spring Banana Blitz

Nothing better than a Banana Blitz in the Spring!

QCV wants to get the Go Bananas! message out to as many kids, parents and teachers as possible, so we visit PE classes, after-school programs, out-of-school programs and participate in family fitness nights at schools, back-to-school events and school festivals. We also participate in other community events like the Junior League's Kids in the Kitchen and Charlottesville Family's Family Fun Fair and Camp Expo. We enjoy every opportunity to get in front of kids and tell them what great tennis players eat and how they exercise.

We're up to 25 Go Bananas! cards.

Here's what a Spring Banana Blitz looks like!

Go Bananas! at Kids in the Kitchen, March 2013

QCV held a Tennis Festival as part of the annual Kids in the Kitchen event. 100 kids played tennis!

Why do tennis players eat grapes? Ask Coach Alina!

Many thanks to the Junior League of Charlottesville for this annual community event and letting us participate for the third year! We appreciate all you do!

What a great group of second graders! They rocked the Go Bananas! cheer.

Go Bananas! at Friendship Tennis Academy Tennis Festival, March 2013

We didn't let a bad weather forecast dampen our spirits. It was pouring at 8:00 AM and then started clearing little by little. The tennis courts were wet, so the event was moved to the covered basketball pavilion across the way. The sun came about before noon. By 4:00 PM, it was pouring again.

Parent comment: "We had a great time and Leonard and Claire loved it. They said, 'Sign us up!' And they keep saying that they want to eat all their veggies and fruits so they can be strong for tennis." Len, father of 5 year old twins

There were 25 kids who rotated through the two-hour festival. At the end, one parent said she wished they had been there for the whole event! Each kid received a Camp Friendship drawstring bag, a Go Bananas! poster, bracelet and nutrition cards and a Youthtennis.com pen.

Go Bananas! at Scottsville Elementary School, March 2013

After two snow-day delays, we finally made it to Scottsville Elementary in southern Albemarle County! HOORAY!!! We saw three separate PE classes -- 55 second and third graders in all. Many thanks to Scottsville PE teacher Kim Gentry for asking us to come for a visit!

Ready to go!                                             Lots of eager participants!
