QuickStart PRO Summer School Program

What better place to find lots of kids looking for something FUN to do than summer school. Tennis scores high marks for FUN compared to most academic subjects, and physical activity makes kids more attentive in class. Teaching tennis to kids during summer school is a WIN-WIN WINNER! Summer QuickStart PROs are college students who live with a host family and teach tennis as part of the summer school curriculum. It's a grassroots approach that exposes kids to a lifetime sport and positive role models.

Taking tennis-teaching resources to kids in underserved rural counties as part of the summer school curriculum  has had an amazing impact on their lives. One little girl said she was going to ask the Principal to start summer school all over again, so she could keep playing tennis. And as for the summer school classroom teachers, once they saw what FUN their students were having playing tennis, they joined right in.

QCV will . . .

• Identify rural communities to participate in the program
• Find a host school in the community
• Help match instructors and schools
• Have host school find host family for the QuickStart PRO
• Help raise funds to pay instructors
• Provide oversight during summer school
• Supplement tennis instruction with Go Bananas for QuickStart!
• Assist in planning a social tennis event 

We hope our QuickStart PRO Summer Program will be the start of attracting tennis-teaching professionals who will want to live and teach in rural counties in central and southside Virginia. We know the kids would enjoy it. We get lots of thank-you notes and artwork!
