QCV Hosts USTA QuickStart Workshop
On Saturday, April 17, 2010, QCV trained almost 40 people at a USTA QuickStart Workshop at the indoor courts at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, VA. This was the third workshop in the past 15 months, and brought the total number of people trained to teach or coach QuickStart in central Virginia to over 260. Rob Issem, Director of Tournaments for USTA/Virginia and a national USTA QuickStart trainer led the session. He was assisted by Jonathan Amos, Tennis Service Representative for USTA/Mid-Atlantic and QCV Board member. QCV Board members Melodie Hagspiel, Lynda Harrill and Tessa Pehanick also joined in the fun.
Participants came from all over the QCV Service Area -- Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Louisa, Madison, Powhatan counties and City of Charlottesville -- as well as several from Northern Virginia and Richmond. They were PE teachers, Head Start instructors, after-school instructors, tennis pros, tennis coaches, interested parents and volunteers and accomplished junior players who want to teach younger kids. It was a FUN way to spend a beautiful Saturday morning in Charlottesville. Everyone had a great time!
