QuickStart Tennis for PE Teachers

Train, Equip and Support . . . that's what QCV does for PE Teachers in Central Virginia

QuickStart Tennis of Central Virginia aims to reach 55,000 students in 116 schools over the next five years. To do that, PE teachers are an integral part of our plans. They are our point of access and they're the ones who have the daily opportunity change kids' lives for the better. We want to partner with them and help them create happy and healthy kids using QuickStart Tennis as a vehicle!

Free Training
QCV and USTA Mid-Atlantic offer free "in-service" training for schools in the 21 counties we serve. Training takes about two hours, involves hands-on learning and lots of fun! Sessions are typically scheduled for school-system Staff Development Days, but we can schedule a session to suit your calendar! When school system-specific training is not possible, PE teachers can attend QCV-hosted USTA Recreational QuickStart Workshops for free! Check Upcoming Events for the next workshop dates and locations.

Free QuickStart Equipment

QCV writes grants and seeks other funding sources to make it possible for public schools to receive free QuickStart equipment. QCV has "Loaner Kits" so PE teachers can take QuickStart on a "test drive" before they commit. QCV will provide permanent equipment to enthusiastic PE teachers who are committed to teaching QuickStart in their PE classes. In addition, the school needs to become a USTA organizational member (annual cost $35) and the PE teacher will be asked to write a thank-you note to the grantor who made it possible for QCV to buy the equipment.

QCV Loaner Kit (pictured at left) contains 24 racquets, dozens of balls, a USTA School Tennis Curriculum Guide, a USTA QuickStart Tennis Recreational Guide, station signs, QuickStart tape and includes two portable 18-foot nets.

Ongoing Support

QCV wants PE teachers to be successful, so we provide whatever support they need. From creating flyers to making Go Bananas for QuickStart! school visits to assistance with grant-writing, QCV always steps up for PE teachers. QCV also serves as a QuickStart "clearinghouse." We share what we know. We can help parks & recreation departments and camps find trained QuickStart instructors, most of them PE teachers. We're all about connecting people, so kids can have fun and learn QuickStart.

Why is being a USTA organizational member so important?
QCV has no members. We want schools to be card-carrying members of the USTA for many reasons, but mostly because we want schools to be directly "connected" to the sport for a lifetime.

  • School members receive a free School Curriculum Guide (retail value $50)
  • PE teachers can attend a Teachers Conference held during the U.S. Open each year
  • Member schools are eligible for USTA grants from Virginia, Mid-Atlantic and National
  • School members are eligible for deeply discounted equipment from USTA-approved equipment manufacturers
  • Member schools can establish a National Junior Tennis & Learning chapter, which creates another level of resouces for schools and their students
  • As members, schools will be connected to a network of over 740,000 individuals and organizations that are USTA members

Check us out with other PE teachers at schools that have already added QuickStart to PE classes and/or after-school programs. We think they'll give us glowing reviews!

Hop on the QuickStart bus and come along for the FUN!
